About the town:
The small hamlet of Farneto, situated inside the walls of the old manor house dating back to the X century, have mantained its structure. You can enjoy a wonderful panorama.
It is a strategic place, in the XV century there were the armies of Francesco Sforza and Sigismondo Malatesta. It is also a religious place; there it was founded the Benedictine Abbey of Saint Thomas in Foglia, that became a renowned church, particularly rich in the XII and XII century.

In the residential area there is a big and rustic square closed by brickwork houses and the church of Saint Martin (as you can see in the photographs, on the background) that is well-preserved and has an odd bell tower. The walls surrounds what remains of the old Castle of Farneto that was founded on the ruins of the Priapo's temple. He was submitted under the jurisdiction of the Abbey, so it had the same destiny. Now it remains part of the building and the walls that makes a terrace from where you can admire the wonderful surrounding countryside.

Farneto stands out also because it is the birthplace of B. Michelina Metelli (1336) and the noble family of the Farneti, among which there is the jurist Aurelio, podestà of Florence (1513).

Paths to discover:
Farneto is easily reachable from Pesaro, taking the road of Montelabbate to l'Apsella. From there you can take via Farneto that leads directly to Farneto (4.5 km of paved road).
