Cala Gonone is a touristic hamlet, inhabited all year; it is situated 7 km from Dorgali, a town of about 10000 inhabitants, 35 km from Nuoro, the provincial capital and 100 km from the port and the airport of Olbia, situated in a wide valley held in a wild and enchanting coast. It is situated in the centre of the gulf of Orosei and it divides it into two areas: the Northern part is characterized by low coasts and sandy beaches, while the southern part is characterized by cliffs, overhanging rocks and caves (like the ones of BUE MARINO that are really famous), archs and pinnacles, interrupted by delightful bays that can be reached only by the sea: the popular and fascinating CALA LUNA, the wonderful CALA MARIOLU, the unique CALA BIRIOLA, and a lots more. The hinterland is no less so, rich in resources for the lovers of the nature and culture: the big Canyon of Gorropu in the mountains of Supramonte, the villages with nuraghe like Tiscali, Serra Orrios and Nuraghe Mannu, besides the Domus de Janas, the Dolmen and the aquarium.
Thanks to the richness of naturalistic resources and the mild climate it is the Sardinian capital of the dynamic tourism: breathtaking views accompany all year long the trekking, free climbing, paraglider, mountain bike, horse riding, kayak trips also in the rivers and the fishing.
Furthermore there is also a handcrafted world (weaving of carpets, pottery, gold art with the filigree and the coral) and a gastronomic one (the typical tastes of the agro-pastoral tradition, the prestigious wines and the confectionary art).
